Scenic Designer | Theatremaker

about

Hi Folks!

My name is Leah Ramillano and I am a Filipino-American Scenic Designer and Storyteller based in Southern California. By day, I work a corporate job as a CAD III Associate draftsperson for Mattel, Inc.'s Global Tradeshow Services Department (Yes, the toy company! The one that makes Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, and other beloved iconic products), and to feed my everlasting hunger for creativity and learning, I also enjoy working as a scenic design assistant and draftsperson for other incredible designers.

I hold my Master of Fine Arts in Scenic Design from the University of California, Irvine along with a Bachelor’s in Theatre Arts (Scenic Design emphasis) from the University of Redlands. I have been privileged to be mentored by extraordinary artists and continue to learn from them in ways that are not just limited to design and theatre. These folks include Michael Ganio, Cliff Faulkner, Trevor Norton, Nephelie Andonyadis, Gabriel Barrera, Abby Hogan, Sara Ryung Clement, Stephanie Kerley-Schwartz, and Kelly J. Tighe.

Through learning from mentors that are both great artists and even better people, my philosophy has developed into always aligning my integrity as a person with my integrity as an artist, and therefore honoring the sacred responsibility of telling stories honestly.
